Core Banking Platforms: Performance comparison

A look at some interesting transaction per second (TPS) statistics for popular core banking platforms.

Temenos Transact

Temenos supports up to 50K transactions per second in AWS. Temenos uses NuoDB in the backend.

Infosys Finacle

The latest figures I can find for Finacle are from 2014. It shows that Finacle can support up to 50K average transactions per second for multiple online customer transactions and “customer touch points as well as third-party systems”. It can support up to 1.9 billion bank accounts with near linear scalability. A few highlights:

  • 213K TPS for interest accrual calculation and posting based on a set of 1 billion deposition accounts. Actual interest payments across 79 million accounts came in at 97K TPS.
  • The test was run on a Finacle setup with 205 000 branches.
  • Oracle SuperCluster was used as the backend database.
